eMix 1.3 New Feature:

Zero Footprint Viewer
The Zero Footprint Viewer feature, which enables the receiver of an eMix package to do a full clinical review of the images on computers or mobile devices, will be on display at the upcoming RSNA conference.

The feature-rich Zero Footprint Viewer makes it possible for physicians to clinically review imaging files on Internet-connected devices anywhere in the world, without having to move the files onto a PACS or other third-party application. This purely browser-based viewer is included as part of the eMix package in version 1.3. This upcoming release is anticipated to enter General Availability in January of 2012.

Recent Success Story:

Bakersfield Memorial and Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital

A man traveling on Hwy 99 on his way home to Fresno, CA made an unscheduled stop at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room because of abdominal pains. At BMH, the man received a CT scan. The radiologist said the CT looked to show a positive finding, but because the patient was eager to return to Fresno, he checked himself out of the ER and continued on his drive.

After arriving, the pain in the man's abdomen had increased, so he checked in at Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital. The patient's doctor called Bakersfield Memorial Hospital to request the patient's CT exam. BMH eMixed the CT exam. The doctor was then able to preview the exam images before performing surgery on the man.
